Tea Time!

This post contains a product that I was given for free to review. I am giving my honest opinion based on my personal experience.

Hello! Today I thought that I would try something a little different and tell you about one of my favorite drinks which is tea. Lately I have been drinking a ton of iced tea and I wanted to share my favorite blend with you. I have been trying out a few different teas and I think that I have finally found my perfect blend! I love mixing 2 or more teas together to find the perfect blend. There are a ton of health benefits to drinking tea, but I really just drink tea because I like the flavor and its a great alternative to plain water. Here's a look at my current favorite blend:

Teavana Lemon Lime Kampai (loose leaf)
  • I love the lemon lime flavor of this tea, but it is a bit strong on its own
  • I love combining this with other teas, especially green tea
  • The lemon flavor stands out more than the lime
  • I prefer to have this iced instead of hot
  • Sadly, this is discontinued and I haven't been able to find a good alternative
  • This is a great green tea with a subtle mint flavor
  • This is definitely one of my favorite teas!
  • I love this both hot and iced, its perfect year-round

  • This is your traditional green tea
  • The powder dissolves completely and isn't gritty
  • I also like adding this to smoothies
  • This is a great tea for blending with other teas because of its smooth flavor

I love the combination of all 3 teas for the perfect iced tea! I steep the lemon lime and the moroccan mint teas together and then I add the matcha. I strain out the loose leaf teas after they have steeped for awhile before putting the finished tea into a pitcher. I love this cold so I put it in the fridge for a few hours before pouring myself a glass. I really should have taken a picture of the finished tea but I ended up drinking it all! Do you like me throwing in lifestyle posts? What is your favorite tea? Please feel free to leave your answers in the comments below.

Summer Shoe Haul!

Hello! I love shoes. I have always loved shoes and I will probably always have way too many pairs at any given time. Clothes and purses are great, but shoes are my real fashion obsession. I love flats, sandals, wedges, heels, boots, and yup you get the point. I just may have a tiny bit of a problem, but that's okay! Ha ha, anyways I have been on the lookout for some new sandals since the pair I currently have are falling apart and killing my feet. This clearly gave me an excuse to go to the mall where I ended up finding more than one pair of sandals. Here are the two pairs of sandals and one pair of wedges that I ended up with at the end of my trip to the mall.

The wedges are very basic while the sandals are obviously more shiny and bright. I love all things sparkly and brightly colored so I ended up surprising myself when I ended up buying a pair of basic black wedges. I clearly made up for this with the sparkly sandals. The black wedges and the multi-colored sandals are from Payless, while the silver sandals are from JCPenney. I really could have told you that at the beginning instead of rambling on and on about my love of shoes. Anyway, here's a better look at each pair:

These are by Montego Bay Club and the style is the Venus High Wedge Sling. Here's the link! if your interested in checking them out. I got then in black because I didn't have any black wedges and I think they will go with just about anything! I would say that they are about 4 inches high, but they are super easy to walk in! Believe me that is a big deal for me because I'm not great at walking in heels. They have a lot of cushion which makes them very comfortable.

These brightly colored sandals are from Brash and the style is the Zandra Jeweled Sandal. These aren't on the Payless website so I think they aren't going to carry this style anymore. I understand that these aren't going to appeal to everyone, but I absolutely love them! I love the wild print and multi colored jewels! I will probably end up pairing then with a very basic outfit for a fun pop of color. I found that these sandals run quite small so I did go up a size up.

These sandals are from JCPenney and they are the a.n.a Janice Thong Sandals. Here's the link! if you want to check them out. These are the perfect pair of dressy silver sandals! I like that they are a neutral color so I can pair them with just about any outfit. They are very comfortable and have a surprising amount of cushion for being sandals. The straps don't come up very high on the ankle so I'm not sure how secure they will be, but I hope they hold up well.

Overall, I'm very happy with all 3 pairs of shoes and I know that this won't be the last shoe haul. I know that I definitely don't need any more shoes, but fall is just around the corner which means its almost boot season! What are your favorite summer sandals? Please feel free to leave your answer and any comments you may have in the comments below.

First Impressions: The Face Shop Konjac Sponge

Hello! I just did a The Face Shop Haul which you can read here link! where I picked up this konjac sponge. I have been looking for a new konjac sponge since I haven't been able to find the one I usually use from Daiso. This one is called the Charcoal & Konjac Cleansing Puff which is basically a fancy way of saying its a konjac sponge that has some charcoal added to it. I believe that the charcoal is supposed to draw impurities out of the skin. I decided to go with this one instead of the regular one because I liked the shape of this one better than the regular one. I love konjac sponges for washing my face because they leave my skin feeling great. It doesn't feel like its doing anything, but my face feels so smooth when im done using it. Konjac sponges come from the konjac root which is found in japan. Anyways, here are my initial thoughts on this particular konjac sponge:

  • the teardrop shape makes it really easy to use
  • it comes pre-moistened which is nice
  • it feels softer and nicer than the one from Daiso
  • I do wish that the string for hanging was a little longer but thats really a minor issue

Overall, this is a really great konjac sponge that I would definitely recommend to anyone! I love how soft and smooth it makes my skin. I use it with my regular cleanser, but you can use it on its own if you like. I haven't used this very many times, but I already love it! Have you ever used a konjac sponge? What is your favorite tool for washing your face? Please feel free to leave your responses in the comments below.

The Face Shop Haul!

Hello everyone! Yesterday I went to The Face Shop so I decided to do a haul and show you what I picked up. The Face Shop is a skincare and cosmetics store from South Korea. It focuses on using natural ingredients together with modern science to provide you with the best of both worlds. I have been wanting to try some of their skincare items so I was very happy when I saw that The Face Shop was at my local mall. They now have a few stores in the US which means I don't have to order online and pay for international shipping! I originally went in to have a look at their konjac sponge, but I obviously ended up with a few more things. Doesn't that always seem to happen when you tell yourself that you only need one thing? Anyways, here's everything that I picked up.

  • I have been looking for a new konjac sponge for months so I was very glad to pick this up!
  • I decided to try one with charcoal because its supposed to be great for oily skin
  • I have been looking to try something new for removing blackheads so I decided to give this a shot
  • it has 2 strips
  • one for removing blackheads and another for tightening the pores
  • Im curious about this and I hope it works!
  • This is a clarifying sheet mask
  • I hope that this works without drying out my skin
  • This is a brightening sheet mask
  • This is a firming and moisturizing mask
  • This was actually a freebie from the cashier!
  • She said it was because I signed up for their rewards program
I also got a free sample of the green tea toner and emulsion which I totally didn't expect! I had a lot of fun taking a look at all of their products in person for the first time. I hope I like everything and I am already eyeing a few more items that I want to try. Let me know if you want to see an individual review of any of the products in the comments below.

Try It! Essence Volumizing Lash Powder

Hello! Today I am trying out the Volumizing Lash Powder by Essence Cosmetics. This really caught my eye the other day and I couldn't wait to try it out! I am always looking to add more volume to my lashes and this looked like an easy way to achieve full looking lashes without using false lashes. This is a fiber powder which is meant to add a ton of volume to your lashes. You are supposed to put on one coat of mascara to your lashes and then quickly add the fibers to your lashes with the included wand. Then the fibers are sealed in with another coat of mascara. I tried this out with several mascaras to see how it worked. Here's my thoughts on it:

  • the fibers get anywhere and everywhere!
  • you have to work really quickly so that the fibers stick to your lashes
  • it does add a bit of volume to the lashes
  • it takes a bit of practice
I didn't realize how much work it would take to get this to work! I found that it works best if you dip the wand into the fibers and have it ready to pick up after you apply your first coat of mascara. If you wait too long to apply the fibers the mascara will dry and the fibers just won't stick to your lashes. You should also have a brush handy to wipe away the fibers that will inevitably fall on your face! This seems to give the same results on all mascaras. I do think that this does add volume to the lashes, but in my opinion its just too much work. I would rather use a mascara that already has fibers in it or false lashes. What are your favorite products for enhancing the look of your lashes? Please share your thoughts in the comments below.

Eyeshadow Rave: Wet N Wild Comfort Zone Palette

Hello! Today I would like to tell you about my favorite eyeshadow palette of the moment which is the Comfort Zone palette from Wet n Wild. I love the quality of this palette and it is only around $5 USD! The shadows are soft, creamy, and very pigmented. The neutrals colors make this a great everyday palette. Here are some swatches of all the colors:

The left size of the palette has traditional neutral browns and the right side has greens. The shadows are stamped with the words browbone, eyelid, crease, and definer which are meant to be a guide for application. I understand what they are going for, but I just use the shadows wherever I want to on my eyes. As you can tell from the picture above my favorite shade is the eyelid color on the left side of the palette. Its the perfect shimmery light golden color and I usually just sweep it across my eyes and call it a day. The green shades in this palette are really pretty and I should be using them more often. I have green eyes so I usually like to use other colors on my eyes, but I do want to try wearing green eyeshadow more often. I would definitely reccomend this palette to anyone looking for a great eyeshadow palette from the drugstore! What are your favorite drugstore eyeshadows? Please feel free to leave your feedback in the comments below!

Try It! Dry Brushing

Hello and welcome to this edition of Try It! where I have decided to try out dry brushing for the body. I had been hearing about dry brushing for about a year now and have finally decided to try it out. Dry brushing is just literally brushing your dry skin with a natural bristle brush in long or circular strokes towards the heart. Dry brushing is known to provide many benefits including:
  • increased circulation
  • shedding dead skin cells
  • leaves the skin soft and smooth
  • clear pores
  • detoxify the body
  • reduce the appearance of cellulite
I tried dry brushing for the first time yesterday and I loved it! I normally exfoliate with my coffee body scrub (you can read about it here link!) but I wanted to try something new. Most people recommend using a natural bristle brush which can cost anywhere between $7-$20. I just used a body brush from the 99 Cent Store and it worked just fine. I wasn't applying much force because I was afraid of being too rough on my skin. I did feel a bit of a tingle, but it didn't hurt or even leave my skin very red. I did this right before taking a shower and afterwards my skin was so soft! I will definitely continue doing this on a regular basis because it was great! I know that some people recommend doing this every day, but I'm thinking I will probably stick to once or twice a week. Lets be honest though, this will probably happen whenever I remember to do it which wont be on an exact schedule. Have you ever tried dry brushing? What is your favorite method of exfoliating? Please feel free to leave your answers in the comments below.

Lipstick Rave: Wet N Wild Silk Finish

Hello! Today I was in the mood to wear pink lipstick so I thought I should tell you all about my favorite pink lipsticks. My absolute favorite lipsticks are the Wet N Wild Silk Finish lipsticks. They are a great drugstore lipstick that is only about $1 USD! I love these lipsticks and have been wearing them for years! My favorite shades are Fuchsia with Blue Pearl (left tube and left swatch) and Retro Rose (right tube and right swatch).
Fuchsia w/ Blue Pearl is a bright and very blue toned pink that really is a statement lip. I love bright pink lip colors so I get a ton of use out of this shade! Don't worry about the blue pearl part because it really is just a cool toned pink lipstick with blue undertones. It has a satin finish that isn't too frosty or sparkly. I like to pair it with a lip gloss for a more shiny finish, but you can definitely wear it on its own. Retro Rose is a cool toned mid pink shade with a frosty finish. I absolutely love this color but I do prefer to add gloss over the top to tone down the frosty finish. This is the perfect  not to pale and not to bright shade of pink.
Overall, these lipsticks are creamy, long wearing, and have great color payoff! They have a satin finish, although some of the shades are frosty. These lipsticks are great on their own or layered over lip gloss for a shiny finish. At the moment these are definitely my favorite lipsticks. What are your favorite lipsticks? Have you found the perfect pink lipstick? Please let me know your thoughts in the comments below.

First Impressions: Wet N Wild Glitter Eyeshadow

Hello! Today I thought it would be fun to do a First Impressions of the Wet N Wild Coloricon Glitter Single in the shade Brass.  I absolutely love glitter so this is right up my alley and I also love that it is affordable. I believe this was no more than $2 USD at my local Target. Does this remind anyone of those glitter eye shadow palettes from Claire's? I remember loving that palette even though it wasn't the best quality, years ago when I first started wearing makeup. I have had a hard time finding a good glitter for years because most of them are chunky, leave a ton of fallout, and they crease. I couldn't wait to play around with this so I thought I would try it out and give you my initial thoughts.

When I swatched this on my hand I was pleasantly surprised with the texture. It was smooth not chunky and rough like most glitters. The glitter is suspended in a clear gel base which gives it a smooth texture. The glitter particles are flat so they don't scratch the skin which is amazing! I know its hard to tell from the swatch, but this is very buildable. Its creamy and easy to blend which is great. I wouldn't wear this everyday, but I think its perfect for a night out or any special occasion. Overall, this is a great glitter eye shadow and I would definitely recommend it to anyone that is looking for a good glitter. What are your favorite glitter makeup items? Also, what other products would you like to a see on a first impressions post? Please leave you feedback in the comments below.

Try It! Daiso Natural Pack

Hello and welcome to this edition of Try It! Recently I have tried the Daiso Natural Pack which is a pore cleansing mask. I bought this several months ago, but I only recently decided to try it out. Although this seems like it would be great for applying all over the face the directions say to only apply it to the nose. I decided to try this on just my nose to see how or if it worked at cleaning my pores. You are meant to apply it in an even layer over the nose and let it dry for about 15-20 minutes. After that you just need to peel it off and reveal your freshly cleansed pores. Now that we have gotten the directions out of the way here are my thoughts:

  • it sticks on well and doesn't just slide right off the nose
  • doesn't leave the skin feeling dry
  • peels off cleanly without leaving behind any residue
  • doesn't remove blackheads
  • doesn't pick up much dirt/grime
  • seems to sink into pores
Overall, I wasn't very satisfied with this mask. I had hoped that this mask would be comparable or possibly even better than the Biore pore strips for clearing out my pores. When I peeled it off it didn't really pick up much except hair. It did remove a small bit of stuff from my pores, but not nearly as much as using a pore strip. I have heard that Daiso makes another mask which is specifically for the nose which I am curious to try out. What are your favorite pore cleansers or masks? What are your favorite products for removing blackheads? Please leave your thoughts in the comments below.

Latest Obsession: Rainbow Hair

For the past few weeks I have wanted to change up my hair. My hair is naturally long, thick, and very curly. I have never colored my hair or even changed up my haircut. By the way my hair is a dark brown and is all one length. I know my hair could not be any more plain. However recently, I have been in a phase where I want a drastic and dramatic change to my hair. That drastic change is rainbow colored hair! I totally blame this on Pinterest!

I love love love this look! The colors are just so beautiful! I love the vibrant rainbow colors, but I also love the pastel rainbow look! The variety of colors is so pretty and there are so many different color combos to try. While I do love this look I'm so afraid of damaging my hair with bleaching and dying that I can't commit. I am considering hair chalk or colored extensions to try out this rainbow hair without damaging my hair. I tried using oil pastels as hair chalk, but they didn't show up on my dark hair at all! Im thinking of going for a more subtle look so I'm thinking of trying rainbow highlights or tips. For now I'm just scrolling through Pinterest until I find a way to recreate this look. How do you feel about the rainbow hair color? Have you ever tried hair chalk or extensions? Please leave your comments below.

Try It! Daiso Face Washing Brush

Hello! In this Try It! I have tried the Daiso Woolen Face washing brush. Normally I wash my face with a konjac sponge, but lately I have had a hard time finding a new one so I decided to try something new. This is the first face brush that I have found that has wool bristles which intrigued me enough to give it a try. I decided to try this out with my regular cleanser to see how it compared to my konjac sponge. I followed the directions and wet the brush with water before adding my cleanser to the brush.
Here are the pros and cons of this face brush:

  • it creates a good amount of foam
  • has a comfortable handle
  • easy to use
  • rough on the skin
  • bristles aren't the same length
  • doesn't have a string to hang it to dry
Overall, this was a letdown as a face brush. I was hoping that this would be gentle on my skin, but it was much to rough. I really wanted to like this brush, but I just couldn't do it! I realized that I didn't like it the very first time I used it, but I continued using it for about 3 days so I could truly test it out. However, this does make a great cleaning brush so it hasn't been a total loss! I am still looking for a new product for washing my face and I'm open to suggestions. I hope that you liked this Try It! so please tell me what you think in the comments below. What would you like to see me try out next?
