Try It! Dry Brushing

Hello and welcome to this edition of Try It! where I have decided to try out dry brushing for the body. I had been hearing about dry brushing for about a year now and have finally decided to try it out. Dry brushing is just literally brushing your dry skin with a natural bristle brush in long or circular strokes towards the heart. Dry brushing is known to provide many benefits including:
  • increased circulation
  • shedding dead skin cells
  • leaves the skin soft and smooth
  • clear pores
  • detoxify the body
  • reduce the appearance of cellulite
I tried dry brushing for the first time yesterday and I loved it! I normally exfoliate with my coffee body scrub (you can read about it here link!) but I wanted to try something new. Most people recommend using a natural bristle brush which can cost anywhere between $7-$20. I just used a body brush from the 99 Cent Store and it worked just fine. I wasn't applying much force because I was afraid of being too rough on my skin. I did feel a bit of a tingle, but it didn't hurt or even leave my skin very red. I did this right before taking a shower and afterwards my skin was so soft! I will definitely continue doing this on a regular basis because it was great! I know that some people recommend doing this every day, but I'm thinking I will probably stick to once or twice a week. Lets be honest though, this will probably happen whenever I remember to do it which wont be on an exact schedule. Have you ever tried dry brushing? What is your favorite method of exfoliating? Please feel free to leave your answers in the comments below.

See you soon,

  2. I do this about once a month (when I notice it's needed) and always feel better. Not just my skin, but over all. It's kind of like being recharged a little.

  3. I've never tried this before, but it looks interesting! I'm a huge fan of the DIY scrubs too, I made a brown sugar scrub as a Christmas gift to the girls in my family (and treated myself too), and we all loved how it made our skin feel. I have a 2 and a 4 year old, so spending a lot of time in the shower isn't much of an option haha, so I don't stick to much of a regime either!

  12. I love a good body exfoliant but brushes like this scare me! They always seem so rough to touch and I don't want to have scratch marks all over me since I have pretty sensitive skin. <3 Christine, The Choosy Mommy, www.choosykids.blogspot.com
