Try It! Essence Volumizing Lash Powder

Hello! Today I am trying out the Volumizing Lash Powder by Essence Cosmetics. This really caught my eye the other day and I couldn't wait to try it out! I am always looking to add more volume to my lashes and this looked like an easy way to achieve full looking lashes without using false lashes. This is a fiber powder which is meant to add a ton of volume to your lashes. You are supposed to put on one coat of mascara to your lashes and then quickly add the fibers to your lashes with the included wand. Then the fibers are sealed in with another coat of mascara. I tried this out with several mascaras to see how it worked. Here's my thoughts on it:

  • the fibers get anywhere and everywhere!
  • you have to work really quickly so that the fibers stick to your lashes
  • it does add a bit of volume to the lashes
  • it takes a bit of practice
I didn't realize how much work it would take to get this to work! I found that it works best if you dip the wand into the fibers and have it ready to pick up after you apply your first coat of mascara. If you wait too long to apply the fibers the mascara will dry and the fibers just won't stick to your lashes. You should also have a brush handy to wipe away the fibers that will inevitably fall on your face! This seems to give the same results on all mascaras. I do think that this does add volume to the lashes, but in my opinion its just too much work. I would rather use a mascara that already has fibers in it or false lashes. What are your favorite products for enhancing the look of your lashes? Please share your thoughts in the comments below.

See you soon,

  3. I have never heard of lash powder! How cool. It makes sense. I find that my mascara works better after I apply my eye shadow. I'm very curious about this. Great review. I will definitely be giving it a try. :)

  4. That does sound like a lot of work. I haven't heard of this lash powder before but have heard of many volumizing mascara. I typically just apply an extra coat or two of mascara for more glam lashes!

  6. I agree that the extra step just doesn't mesh with me. I hardly have time to put make up on as it is so I need the 1 and done products. <3 Christine, The Choosy Mommy, www.choosykids.blogspot.com

  7. At first glance I thought that this looked like such a cool product but after reading your review I can definitely see how it would be too much work! The concept is still pretty neat though. x Natalie www.thegirlwithbangs.com

  10. I have pretty thick lashes, so volumizing isn't in my arsenal. I steer clear of falsies, etc. But it's so cool to know that there's something like this on the market.

  11. Sounds like a cool product concept... but I don't think I'd have the patience or want to deal with the mess. Thanks for the great review though! :)

  13. The problem my DD and I have is our lashes hit our glasses and then mascara smudges on the lenses.
I wonder if the powder might help the mascara stick to our lashes better.
However, from your review, it does seem like a lot of extra work.
It sounds like something we might only use for special occasions due to the extra work.
