Hello! I have had this wax melt for awhile now and I was never quite happy with the color. So I decided to give it a bit of a makeover! It went from a mustard yellow to a glittery silver that I absolutely love! I found this wax melt warmer at a housewares outlet for only $1 USD so I didn't mind that I wasn't a big fan of the color. I knew that I wanted it to match with my bedroom so I just painted over it with some acrylic paint. In case you don't know I'm a HUGE fan of anything glittery and sparkly! I love the way that it turned out and it was really easy! Here's a before and after photo so you can see the transformation:
I picked these up a few years ago at Michael's Crafts, but I believe that you can still get them in store. I really do recommend using sand paper to rough up the glossy finish before painting. I just completely forgot this step and it made it harder for the paint to stick. I used two coats of the white to get rid of the yellow. I ended up using a sponge to apply the paint (I totally forgot to take pictures!) because it was easier than using a brush. I found that dabbing the paint onto the warmer was a lot easier than trying to use long strokes. I know that acrylic paint dries relatively fast, but to be safe I let each coat dry overnight. After the 2 coats of white I applied 1 coat of the silver paint and 2 coats of the silver glitter. That's all it took to make over this wax melt warmer. Do you use a wax melt warmer? See you soon,
